The 67th annual conference of the International Communication Association took place in San Diego, California, from May 25th to May 29th. We had the opportunity to present our work on Franklin Ford on two occasions:
"The Social Fact is the Sensational Thing: An Appraisal of John Dewey’s Venture into Journalism" was part of a panel devoted to John Dewey in the Philosophy, Theory and Critique division.
"John Dewey’s Ghosts: Franklin Ford and Journalism as an Image of Democracy" was part of a preconference on Normative Theory in Communication Research.
We presented our work on Thought News and Franklin Ford at the Joint Journalism and Communication History Conference. Entitled "Metaphors for Another Future: John Dewey’s Thought News and the Troubled Relationship Between Journalists and Academics," our presentation was part of the conference that took place at NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute on March 11, 2017.
